The System: Objectives
Objective: What we, as a character, want to achieve within a given set of circumstances.
Objectives: Practical Exploration
- Two volunteers will select a PLACE and a TIME card - you can both look at both cards.
- You will also be given an OBJECTIVE Card which they do not share with each other; each volunteer is only aware of their own objective.
- You will improvise a scene where each character has to work hard at attaining their objective
- Do not be too obvious with your objectives. Be creative, inventive and indirect - aim to create dramatic tension.

The System: Actions
Actions: What we do, as the character, to fulfill our objective.
If the objective is the 'want' the action is the 'doing'.
An action is the combination of both the psychological and the physical.
An action is the combination of both the psychological and the physical.
The objective and action run in tandem, for when we want something, we immediately start to imagine what we will do to achieve it. The objective leads to the action.
The action comes as an active verb, such as I belong, I enjoy, I reject, I take pride, I challenge, I suffer.
